⚙️🛢️ The oil pump gear alignment tool aligns the oil pump gear flats with the flats of the crankshaft to improve sealing at the back scavenge port.

  • Aligns the oil pump gear flats with the flats of the crankshaft.
  • It is recommended to assemble the cam plate, oil pump, cam shaft and related parts on the bench, line up the oil pump gear flats with the crankshaft flats, and install the entire assembly into the cam chest as one complete unit.
  • For Twin Cam engines: rotate the crankshaft flats so they are horizontal and align the oil pump gear flats horizontal to match.
  • For M8 engines: rotate the crankshaft flats so they are vertical and align the oil pump gear flats vertical to match.

This procedure has been shown to provide the best seal on the back scavenge port of the oil pump to the engine case because the parts are always moving inward toward the scavenge port.
